Monster Cleaning Wembley is a small firm cleaning houses and flats across HA9, HA0 and the Kenton end of HA3. Move out cleans and regular housework fill most of the week, in that order, with carpets, ovens and deep cleans in the gaps. Bedroom count sets a move out clean, opening at £156, and an hour of a cleaner’s time on a weekly visit costs £23. We work one patch and intend to keep it that way.

Two towns pretending to be one

South and west of the centre it is 1930s three bedroom semis and Edwardian terraces, most with something built on the back, a good number split into flats and a heavy concentration run as licensed shared houses. North of the stadium is somewhere else entirely: dense blocks of one and two bedroom rental flats put up in the Wembley Park regeneration, with communal corridors, shared bin stores and a desk in the lobby. Post-war council terraces and low-rise maisonettes sit between the two around Tokyngton and Chalkhill. We work all three in the same week and the van gets loaded differently for each.

The stadium runs our diary

Brent puts special event-day parking controls on the streets round the ground whenever the stadium or the arena is busy. Those controls beat the normal residents’ permits, they reach further out than most people expect, and they are the single commonest reason a start time moves. So an HA9 booking gets checked against the fixture calendar before it is confirmed, and what comes back is usually an early start or a different day.

Lifts, key safes and who lets us in

Brent has one of the largest private rented sectors in London and Wembley sits at the middle of it, so plenty of our work arrives through a letting agent rather than the person living in the property. Across the HA0 shared houses that means an agent’s key safe with a code that changes when a room changes hands, and we take it at the booking instead of standing on a doorstep ringing the office. In the managed blocks it means concierge sign-in and a goods lift reserved a day ahead, which we arrange once you give us the block name. Any key we hold comes back to you the same week you stop the service.

Hard water is the local constant

Thames Water supplies Wembley at the hard end. Kettle elements fur, shower screens film over within a couple of years, and bath mixer chrome goes dull long before the tap wears out. A bathroom here takes longer than the same bathroom in a soft water town, and that time sits inside the price instead of being sold as an extra. It is also why the rinse gets softened and neutralised before the extraction machine goes over a pale carpet, since hard water left in the pile dries as a bloom that shows worst on dark colours.

Our peak falls in the autumn

Deep clean demand here runs highest in the fortnight before Diwali and Navratri, which is the reverse of how our other London rounds behave. Around Ealing Road and the Sudbury streets that fortnight is usually booked out by the first week of October, so ringing three weeks ahead gets you the slot you wanted.

One cleaner, one home

The same cleaners go back into the same houses wherever the rota allows. People prefer it and the work goes faster, because somebody who already knows which cupboard holds the bin liners is not losing ten minutes a visit hunting for them. Holidays and sickness get a phone call the day before, offering either cover or a moved visit, and you choose. Nobody turns up unannounced. Machines and materials come with us, so there is nothing for you to buy in, though we will use yours if you would rather, which people ask for over an allergy or a worktop that hates anything acidic.

Published prices

Move out work goes on property size and is agreed before we start, £156 for a studio up to £425 for four bedrooms, with any oven charged on top. Regular cleaning is £23 per cleaner per hour weekly and £24 fortnightly, with ironing at £12 an hour on top of those hours. Carpets go by room from £36, ovens by appliance from £77, upholstery per item from £13 for a dining chair, and a deep clean is £26 per cleaner per hour plus £30 for kit, which puts two cleaners over three hours at £186. Every figure is on the prices page rather than behind a phone call, and it holds on the day unless you add work. One off visits carry a £67 minimum; hourly regular work is exempt.

If a clerk marks something down

Ring 020 8077 3609 inside 48 hours. We come back and re-clean whatever was marked down, at no charge and with no form to fill in, which settles a clerk’s query far quicker than an email chain. The contact page has the hours and our terms carry the rest.

The round

Tokyngton and Preston in HA9, North Wembley, Sudbury and Alperton in HA0, and Kenton in HA3, all on one price list. The areas page covers what we do most of in each, and the services page sets out the five jobs we take.
