Move out cleans on the fixed bands, £156 for a studio through to £425 for four bedrooms, with the oven left out of the band. The oven goes on at £31, and it is the usual add-on when a landlord wants the kitchen sorted between tenants, with a hob from £23 or an extractor at £28 on the same visit. Carpet is £36 a bedroom and £41 for a flight of stairs. Stairs are the common one.

Weekly housework is a smaller share of the mix here than it is further north, and most of what there is sits in the maisonettes rather than the newer flats. That is a pattern rather than a rule. We take the work either way.

Getting a van close

Off the main approach roads it is easy outside event hours. Nearer Olympic Way the kerb is metered or permit-only for most of the day and the loading bays run in short slots, so the kit comes off in one go. Jobs on the North Circular edge of the ward get an early start. Eight beats ten.

Can you get into a managed block if I am not there?

Usually, if you sign us in with the concierge or leave a key at the desk. The goods lift has to be booked as well, which we do ourselves once we have the block name and the managing agent.

Do you clean the maisonettes over towards Chalkhill?

Yes, and stair carpet is most of what gets booked there. The flight costs £41, with £9 on top for the landing. Getting the kit up to a maisonette takes longer than walking it into a house, so we allow for that in the slot rather than in the price.

Does the price change between HA9, HA0 and HA3?

It stays put. Tokyngton, Preston, North Wembley, Sudbury, Alperton and Kenton all run on one price list, so crossing a postcode line leaves the figure where it was.
